FAQs

Invariably clients and prospective clients will have questions, so we’ve done our best to outline the most common ones here.

If you’ve still not found what you’re looking for, please contact us, where one of the team will be more than happy to help.

“Why do I need a business plan?”

You don’t. Not all the time. Not any time. If you don’t need a working document to guide you in making decisions. If you don’t want to check how feasible your idea or operation is. If you have zero interest in acquiring investment from outside influences. If none of that is of importance to you, you don’t need a business plan.

The reality is, is that the above, at some point at least, WILL be of interest to you. No one gets in to business for it to fail, and at some point down the path you may look to grow the business. You may even look to sell your business. How will you know if the business is an attractive proposition? How will you know what milestones or benchmarks to implement and when?

A professionally written business plan will identify and highlight everything from market research and SWOT analysis to your exit strategy, so… that’s why you need a business plan.

“Why should I work with you?”

There’s no big sales pitch here. We are very good at what we do. We are specialists in start up business plans. We are successful in that arena, and continue to strive to ensure our clients are also successful. Let’s be honest here…if YOU are successful, WE are successful. No one ever referred us for doing poor work. in 2016 62% of our business came from referral. That speaks volumes, but you might consider the following;

  • 100% communication from start to finish.
  • Free initial consultation.
  • 65+ years experience in writing business plans.
  • Highly competitive fee.
  • Free, unlimited revisions.
  • Free 4 page starter website (terms apply).
  • No templates – all plans bespoke & tailored.
  • Dedicated Account Manager.
  • One point of contact from start to sign-off.
  • Expert team of researchers and writers.

And so on…

“Do you operate a referral fee offer?”

In a word – yes. We will pay you £75 for each client you refer to us.

“What are the components of the plan?”

Each plan is different, as it’s tailored to your needs. For more info on the actual contents, see our page “Business Plan Model“.

“How quickly will the plan the be done?”

Usual turn around time is 10 – 14 days from first half of the fee being paid. Any special or “out of the ordinary” requirements might take a touch longer, but we’ll always keep you in the loop!

“What is required of me?”

Full, unadulterated cooperation. We’ll send you a questionnaire as part of the process, we’d ask you be as detailed as possible. If we need anything else, it’s a wise idea to provide it. We don’t ask questions for the sake of it, there will always be a legitimate reason.

“Aren’t your prices a bit low?”

“Compared to what?” is a sales question I heard years ago. And there’s some light in it. Are we the most expensive around? Certainly not. But as we specialise in start ups, and each account manager has several successful start up ventures behind them, we know that starting out can be a costly exercise.

We don’t do a great deal of advertising (remember our referral percentage?) and that, along with other cost saving initiatives mean our overheads are lower, so we pass that saving back to you.

Affordable, effective business plans. Straightforward enough.

“What types of plan do you offer?”

The most popular plan we do is a start up business plan (as the name would suggest). We class “start up” as a business under 2 years old with an annual revenue of less than £1m.

Other than that we offer Feasibility Plans, Strategic, Internal, Operations & Growth.

To see what plan will best suit your needs, speak to an account manager.

“Do you offer a sample plan?”

We don’t. As part of our Service Level Agreement we treat all of your information, even discussions confidentially. Plus there’s plenty of samples online.

“What payment terms do you offer?”

You will be required to pay half the fee in advance and the remainder on completion. We don’t offer terms outside of this arrangement.

“Is there any discount?”

No, our prices are already competitive enough (unless we’re running a special incentive.)

“Why do you have a Service Level Agreement?”

To protect you. And us a little bit. But mainly you. Have a read and you’ll see exactly what it covers. Any questions or confusion on it please drop us a line to discuss.

“Do you have a privacy policy?”

Absolutely. We take your privacy very seriously. Feel free to read our Privacy Policy.

“Why do I need to pay half upfront?”

We need to ensure that we don’t work for nothing. At the same time it means you’re not paying it all in one lump sum. Easier cash flow for you.

“How do I pay?”

Via credit or debit card on receipt of electronic invoice that’s emailed to you when you agree to engage our services.

“Is it safe to pay by card? Are there any other ways?”

Absolutely safe. We use Freshbooks which is about as safe as you can get! You can also pay by BACS, just ask for the appropriate details at the time.

“Do you give refunds?”

No. We work tirelessly to ensure you get what you need. Ergo, we don’t need to refund anyone, as we get it right. And that’s what matters.

“Will you price match against another supplier?”

No.

“Why do you specialise in start ups?”

Because we’ve (as a team) all been there before. Because we’ve been where you are, and faced the same nightmares you’ve faced. We’ve been underwhelmed by the service provided by so called gurus. And frankly OVERwhelmed by how much these firms were charging. So we set out to do it better, and we’ve succeeded.

Start ups are exciting too, each is different and it gives us great pleasure to work with such an interesting array of clients. Will you be the next?

“Do you know anyone else that can help me in other areas of my start up business?”

We have network of everything from Accountants to Web Developers. All you need to do is ask. If we can’t help you, chances are we know someone than can.
